So... what are you wearing today?

"On any “High Street” on a Saturday, you can see ‘children’ wearing make-up, children who obviously spent ages straightening their hair, wearing t-shirts with provocative slogans; hardly any sign of self-esteem and happiness at all…."

In our generation today we have a “cult of conformity” all around us. The Scripture tells us to “come out from among the world and be ye separate, saith the Lord.” {2 Cor. 2:15} I know people use the verse, “Man looketh on the outward appearance, but God looketh on the heart,” {1 Sam. 16:7} to condone anything they wish to wear. This is one of the most misused/used out-of-context verses in the Bible. The fact of the matter is, if your heart is pure, your outward appearance will be pure and modest. I didn’t say should be, I said will be. It will be because your heart is pure, wanting to please God in everything. Even in the way you dress. In some cases, especially in the way you dress. Your outward appearance is a reflection of your heart. What’s on the inside, comes out…… on the outside.

Our bodies are the temple, the sanctuary, the place where the Holy Spirit lives and makes His home. The still, small voice of the Holy Spirit speaks to you and nudges you when it is too tight, too short, too low or too revealing. For the Scripture says, “Quench not the Spirit.” {1 Thess. 5:19} Will you not listen to that Voice... ?        "Choose you this day whom you will serve..." Are you a servant to your flesh or to the all Powerful Mighty God?

Look at what you are wearing......... is it pleasing to God? Would you be comfortable with Him walking in right now and seeing you dressed the way you are?  "Examine yourselves...do you not know yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you?" Eph. 13:5  "Abstain from all appearance of evil." 1 Thess. 5:22

"In like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing. But, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.  .....pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness." 1 Tim. 2:9-10, 6:11b
